What is Secret Walls?

Secret Walls, formerly known as Secret Wars, started in Worcester, England as an underground battle between two teams of artists.  The two teams compete for 90 minutes on a wall up to 25 feet.  Both teams have to free hand, black and white only, no reference sketches, and winner is chosen by audience vote as well as two (neutral) guest judges.

I heard about this event from a good artist friend of mine who saw the flyer through Instagram.  We paid a donation fee online in advance and printed out a ticket to get in.  DJ was spinning good music , food truck on the lot, and they were serving drinks while more people were getting there.

Once the event got going the energy was crazy.  90 minutes flies by, especially when you're watching such talented artists go to work.  It was really chill seeing the different team of artists working together despite having different styles and techniques. Their art came together and was even more entertaining watching everything done right in front of you.  The artists literally have no room but a few feet of space from the wall to the wall of people who are trying to get a good look at the action.  The greatest thing about the event was the amount of creatives that were there.  So many chill people getting lit and just watching artists paint was a night I wouldn't mind repeating.

If you don't make it out to these events, I encourage you to take time and allow yourself to be creative.  Even if its just by yourself, take time to paint/draw/cook/write/...just create! When we were young, we are encouraged to use our imaginations . As an adult, you have to encourage yourself.  This is a friendly reminder not to forget to stimulate your mind and exercise your creativity. The kid in you never grows up.
